What GlassScan does
GlassScan listens for Bluetooth advertisements from nearby smart glasses and
similar wearable devices, and sends you a local alert when one is likely near you —
even while the app is in the background.
Getting started
- Open the app and allow Bluetooth and Notifications
when prompted.
- Leave the app running (or backgrounded) — it keeps scanning.
- Use the "Check your notifications work" button to confirm alerts are set up
correctly on your device.
Troubleshooting
- No alerts? Make sure Bluetooth is on and that GlassScan has
Bluetooth and Notification permission in iOS Settings.
- Nothing in the list? Smart glasses do not broadcast
continuously — they're most detectable when powering on, pairing, or opening a
charging case. Detection is best-effort.
What GlassScan cannot do
GlassScan cannot identify who is wearing a device, confirm whether recording is
active, or determine signal direction. An alert means a nearby Bluetooth broadcast
likely matches smart-glasses characteristics — not that recording is occurring.
